Rochester Area Mostly Escapes Power Outages, May Also Escape Storms Today

Storms are mostly predicted for south of the M-59 corridor.

A wind storm that blew through the area early Thursday morning caused about 10,000 DTE Energy customers in Oakland County to lose power — but those power outages mostly escaped Rochester and Rochester Hills.

As of 8 a.m., according to a DTE Energy Power Outage map, there were 26 customers in Rochester and Rochester Hills without power; about 100 Oakland Township customers were without power this morning.

According to a "Hazardous Weather Outlook" statement issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday morning, scattered thunderstorms accompanied by high winds and hail were expected to hit southeast Michigan this afternoon, but those were predicted mostly for south of the M-59 corridor.
