Photo of the Day: There's Pavement, Again, on Rochester's Main Street

Downtown's construction project is moving right along.

Gone on Friday afternoon — for a moment, at least — were the giant construction vehicles that have traveled up and down Main Street for the past three months.

The Main Street Makeover, as it has come to be known, is on schedule. Main Street itself is set to reopen in both directions in mid-July, though work will continue through the fall on the sidewalks, streetscape renovations and other parts of the project.

For complete coverage of the project, visit the Main Street Makeover page on Rochester Patch.

just a minor note: "Paving" implies Asphalt and by the looks of the picture, Main Street is receiving Cement... thus Two Lanes have been poured and cured. ^_^

Many people may think that paving refers only to asphalt but that is not wholly correct. Paving is a generic term, just like carpentry is a generic term. Those who may be more closely related to the trades would say there is both rough and finish carpentry and also that there is bituminous as well as concrete paving. Nothing wrong with either definition, one just gives a bit more detail than the generic term. Either way I am glad that the road projects in both cities are nearing the point of allowing the motoring public to fully make use of the roads again.
