Oakland County Parks Vehicle Found Engulfed in Flames

Vehicle found fully engulfed in Rochester Hills with gas cap missing.

Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Rochester Hills Substation were dispatched late Friday to the 140 block of Governor Drive in Rochester Hills for a report of a vehicle fire, according to an incident report

When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames, the report indicated. The vehicle was identified as a 2008 GMC Canyon registered to Oakland County Parks, according to the report. A parks employee told deputies he parked the vehicle at his home at 2:30 p.m. after returning from work and last saw the vehicle at 9:30 p.m. after a funeral.

Rochester Hills fire crews extinguished the blaze and fire personnel noticed the gas cap door of the vehicle was open and the cap was missing, the report indicated. Deputies were unable to find any suspicious vehicles in the area. The incident remains under investigation.
