More Room for Made in Michigan Gifts at Downtown Rochester Shop

The Friends Library Store inside the library has doubled in size. Have you shopped there lately?

A much-loved downtown Rochester destination for unique gifts and made-in-Michigan items has re-opened after a remodeling project doubled its size.

The Friends Library Store inside the Rochester Hills Public Library took over a former copy room next door and now has more room for artwork, home decor items and handmade gifts.

The store is run by about 40 volunteers, many of them Friends of the Library. Last year, the store saw an annual sales increase, said store manager Darlene Tomczyk.

Profits from store sales benefit the Friends organization, which funds programs at the library.

The store is located on the first floor of the library near the circulation desk. To celebrate the store's re-opening, everything is discounted 20 percent through the end of the week.
