Update: Power Back On, So Back To Football in Rochester, Shelby

While they waited, Tigers and Lions fans sat in their car or followed the games online.

About 700 homes in Rochester and Shelby Township lost power on Monday night — as the Detroit Tigers were in extra innings against the Texas Rangers and as the Detroit Lions took the field for Monday Night Football.

The power was restored about 90 minutes later.

According to a DTE Energy power outage map, 749 customers were without power in the area west of Dequindre just north and south of Runyon Road.

The majority of the outage was in Shelby Township.

The cause was unknown.

The power outage came at the same time about frequent power outages in the city. Residents and business owners, as well as leaders of the , had asked council members to investigate outages, which they said were frequent and costly.

The DTE representatives read from a prepared report that stated "a review of actual data and comparison to performance criteria reveals that there are no chronic outage or voltage problems in the city of Rochester at this time."

This same area for about five hours in the afternoon.

Rochester Patch readers immediately took to Twitter and Facebook to express frustration at this latest outage.

"#DTE fail couldn't be a worse time!!!" posted @LoriHeizer on Twitter.

"Right b4 walk off grand slam by the rangers too..:(" posted Dawn Ezzo Roseman on the Rochester Patch Facebook page.

Later, they chronicled their struggles with keeping up with the games.

"My hubby sat in the car to listen to the Tigers, then charged his mp3 to listen to the start of the Lions," reader Kimberly Vaughn posted on Facebook.
