Livernois/Avon to Close Saturday Morning

The midnight to 10 a.m. closing will allow for utility work at the intersection.

If you're planning any late-night outings Friday — or any early-morning expeditions Saturday — here's a road closing in Rochester Hills you'll want to be aware of.

The southern part of the Livernois/Avon intersection will close from midnight Friday to about 10 a.m. Saturday. The closing, announced by the Road Commission for Oakland County, will allow for installation of a utility pole at the southwest corner of the intersection.

The pole is being installed as part of utility relocation work in anticipation of next year's Avon Bridge replacement. The busy intersection has been one lane in all four directions since spring, when the road commission found advanced deterioriation of both the Avon and Livernois bridges.
