Last Day to Drop Off Your Santa Letter Downtown

The Santa mailbox, sponsored by the Rochester Area Jaycees, will accept the wish lists through the end of the day.

Have your children made their lists and checked them twice?

The town's Santa mailbox — it can't be missed at the corner of Main and Fourth streets downtown — will welcome letters to the jolly one through the end of the day Friday. That's the last day children can "mail" the letter and be guaranteed an actual response from one of Santa's elves.

By elves, we mean members of the Rochester Area Jaycees. This is the fourth year they have managed the mailbox, located in front of bank on the busy corner. (Note to parents: The Jaycees use a form letter to send a response to every child who includes a return address on that note to Santa.)

The Santa mailbox is one of several programs the Jaycees support year-round; the Safety Town summer program for preschoolers and the at are other popular endeavors.
