How Much Will Rochester Hills Mayor, Council Members Make Next Year?

Salaries to be discussed at Monday's city council meeting.

Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett could make $111,199 in 2014 when salaries for next year are discussed at Monday's city council meeting.

The proposed amount includes a $5,000 equity adjustment, according to the city council meeting agenda. The total would put Barnett in the median range of adjoining communities, the agenda indicated.

While no changes are proposed for the base compensation of city council members, the number of annual meetings required to qualify for per-meeting pay is set to decrease, under a proposal, lowering the number from 32 to 24 with the extra meetings earning council members $60 apiece for eight meetings, or $480 extra per year.

The board president currently earns $7,850.48 per year, while council members earn $6,577.43.

The compensation and meeting requirements for council members hasn't changed since 2005, when the required meeting number was reduced from 50 to 32, giving council members an annual increase of about $1,080, the agenda indicated.

Board members in the city won't se a change in their compensation in 2014, with board chairpersons earning $75 per meeting and board members earning $65. This applies to the Building Authority, Construction and Fire Prevention Code Board of Appeals, Economic Development Corporation, Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals/Sign Board of Appeals and Historic Districts Commission.
