Today's Memorial Day parade helps showcase our town's veterans — and our town's appreciation for what our veterans have done for our nation.

The Rochester-area's Memorial Day parade begins with a ceremony at 9:15 a.m. at Mount Avon Cemetery near downtown Rochester.

The parade, then, takes off from the cemetery at 10 a.m. and travels to Veterans Memorial Point via Livernois Road. A closing ceremony will be held at Veterans Memorial Point.

A special program will honor those who have served this year: in remembrance of those who gave their lives, all veterans marching or walking or riding in the parade can carry a memorial wreath that will then be laid at Veterans Memorial Park.
