Happy Birthday, Dr. Van Hoosen: You Would Be 150 This Week

Bertha Van Hoosen was born in 1863 and grew up on what is now known as the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm.

The Rochester community is invited this week to celebrate the 150th birthday of one of the women who founded this area.

Bertha Van Hoosen, an author, teacher and doctor, was one of the most well-known and longest-practicing women physicians of her time. She grew up on the farm where the birthday celebration will take place on Tuesday.

Admission is free for the birthday party, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm.
