Grab & Go Kids Planner: The Super Winter Break Edition

Here are your best bets for family-friendly things to do around town this week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research on the best kid-friendly things to do. This week, we look at the best things to fill time during the upcoming four-day weekend.

1. 
Where/when: , 11 a.m. Saturday
Why go:
The book store does such an awesome job with its story time — you will actually find yourself getting into it and enjoying the different character voices. Your children will love the craft, story and snack. This week, the book will be Pretty Penny Sets Up Shop. Afterward, you can browse books while the children hang out by the train table in the totally tricked-out kid section.

2. Midwinter Break Jump 'N Art Camp
Where/when:
Pump It Up (1720 Opdyke Ct., Auburn Hills), 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday
Why go: 
This camp will keep your children's bodies and minds busy during midwinter break. They will spend half their time jumping around like fools, then spend the other half of the time getting creative with winter-themed art projects. Lunch and a snack are included. For children 4-12.

, noon-3 p.m. Sunday
Why go:
Our children are all familiar with Dinosaur Hill, yet each time they go, it seems that they are totally fascinated all over again. A naturalist will be there to teach the children how animals survive in the winter and will have crafts and projects.

Where/when:
, 2-3 p.m. Tuesday
Why go:
This is the last day of midwinter break for you to find something for your children to do. Fear not, this is the perfect solution. Children in kindergarten through eighth grade may come to the library and get Lego crazy.  They must bring their own Legos. There will be a theme announced, and then it is game on. There will be prizes for the best construction in different categories.

5.
Where/when:
, 5:45-7:45 p.m. Tuesday
Why go:
 Your children can make their own dinner and sit down and eat with the other children while you escape for some grown-up alone time. Register through the Rochester Avon Recreation Authority.
