Downtown 'Junk in the Trunk' Event Postponed Because of Weather

The community garage sale in a downtown parking lot will now be held Aug. 25.

The first ever "," described as a rummage-sale-in-a-parking-lot, was supposed to happen from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot on the corner of West Third and Walnut streets (next to ).

A weather forecast that calls for rain and storms forced organizers to postpone the event until later in the month. It will now be held Aug. 25.

Because of the postponement, there's still time to register for a seller's spot; contact the DDA at 248-656-0060.

Sellers paid a fee for a parking spot (or two) in order to sell everything you'd normallly find at a garage sale.

According to event planner Stephanie Schwager of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority, about 60 sellers had registered.

"Junk in the Trunk was created to benefit both Rochester businesses and also residents who are long-time supporters of downtown," Schwager said.
