To Downtown and Back Again: Winter Walk Along the Clinton River

I brought my family along as I wandered on the snow-covered Clinton River Trail on Saturday morning. Here's what I saw.

The trails all around us adapt with the seasons: I learned this when I set out on Saturday morning for a short hike along the Clinton River Trail in Rochester and Rochester Hills.

Here's a scenic winter look at the river and all of its beauty. If you've explored the trail lately, share your photos, too.

Thanks for the pictures, Kristin. It was a pretty cold day to be out on the trail, so good for you! Love that you saw a robin!

Thanks, Ruthann. I won't lie: I complained about the cold more than my kids did!

I was out there too with my walking group. There were ten of us and we walked for over an hour, we wern't able to walk on Paint Creak Trail near Dinosaur Hill tho because there was too much ice. Every week we walk through Municipal Park, on the Paint Creak Trail, Dinosaur Hill, around the Library, Clinton River Trail, and through the neighborhoods.

That stretch of the Clinton River from Avon and Livernois to downtown at normal levels is a nice smooth paddle by canoe or kayak. Be sure to call Clinton River Kayak and Canoe Rentals to see how clear the water is of debris. They maintain quite a bit of the river on their own free time. (248) 421-3445
