Downed Power Line Closes M-59 at Rochester Road

DTE reports 50 customers are without power, while Oakland County Sheriffs Office reports road to be closed until about 6:30 p.m.

About 50 DTE customers in the Rochester Hills area are without power Friday after a downed power line in the area of M-59 and Rochester Road, according to Randi Berris, a DTE representative. 

Berris said DTE crews currently are trying to isolate the problem in order to fix the line, but does not have a timetable for when service might be restored.

A DTE outage map shows isolated outages in the area. Berris did not say what caused the downed line, but noted at 2:40 p.m. it had happened "within the hour."

The Oakland County Sheriffs Office said M-59 is closed in both directions at Rochester Road in Rochester Hills. The Rochester Road overpass is also closed. 

The Sheriffs Office advises that vehicles using M-59 can exit at Rochester Road and get back on M-59.  Vehicles will not be able to go under the overpass or cross over M-59 using Rochester Road and an alternate route is suggested.

The overpass will be closed until about 6:30 p.m. on Friday, the Sheriffs Office reported.
