Books, Bound for Joplin, Collected at Rochester DDA Office

Relief effort drive continues through June 16.

More than 100 books were overflowing from bins and bags Friday afternoon inside the offices on Main Street in Rochester.

The books are part of a donation drive to benefit relief efforts in Joplin, Missouri. The city was almost completely leveled by tornadoes two weeks ago.

A is ongoing at the Rochester Department of Public Works headquarters on North Wilcox until June 16.

When Rochester DDA staff members saw "books" listed among the needed items earlier this week, they immediately called for donations.

The drive will continue through June 16, when Oakland County will gather the donated supplies from drop-off sites and deliver them to Joplin.
