At Van Hoosen Middle School, a Memorial to One Who Will Not Be Forgotten

These are some of the hundreds of phrases written with love across a colorful memorial that is hanging in the hallway of , a school that is mourning the recent death of sixth-grader Cooper Salsberry.

Cooper, 12, of Oakland Township, died Saturday. He collapsed while running laps during a baseball practice at an Orion Township park. All week, the school community has come together to mourn and pay tribute to Cooper. His funeral is Thursday at Kensington Church in Troy.
