When two full moons appear in one month, the second moon is called a blue moon.
Friday night's blue moon was the last until 2015.
"Not very blue full moon on a hazy night through the trees at Stoney Creek Metro Park," said Kathy Noonan of Rochester, who captured the sight for Patch on Friday night.
The next blue moon will occur in July 2015, according to space.com.
