5 Things to Know About the Hometown Christmas Parade

We tell you about the parking shuttle, the road closings and the weather.

The is celebrating 60 years on Sunday. Here's what you need to know to enjoy it, too.

When-and-where

The parade will begin at 1:45 p.m. from the corner of Tienken and Rochester roads.  It will proceed south on Rochester Road to Third Street. If you are going to watch the whole event from start to finish, expect it to take about an hour and a half.

The weather

The latest forecasts call for rain Sunday morning but a clear sky by 1 p.m. The high temperature will be 48 and it will be breezy, according to the National Weather Service.

Where to park

Although parking on Main Street won't be allowed, there will be parking in municipal lots and on side streets around Rochester. In addition, a shuttle will run between 12:15 and 4:30 p.m. between on Walton Boulevard and the at Pine and Fourth streets in downtown Rochester. The shuttle is free.

Road closings

  • Tienken Road between Rochester Road and (the staging area for the parade) will close at 1 p.m.
  • Rochester Road south of Tienken Road will be closed at 1:15 p.m.
  • Rochester Road north of Avon Road will be closed at 1:15 p.m.
  • Walton/University Drive east of Livernois will be closed at 1:15 p.m.
  • Side streets connecting to the parade route will be barricaded at 1:15 p.m.
