5 Places to Get Your Children Moving Over Winter Break

Do your children have energy to expend? Patch offers five suggestions where they can let loose.

Here are some local places to take the kids to get their sillies out.

1. Rochester Play!

has an awesome indoor treehouse, an obstacle-style course for your children to climb, slides and healthy snacks, too. Rochester Play! is open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day. Closes at 4 p.m. on New Years Eve. Cost is $6.50 for ages 1-3, $8 for ages 4 and older; adults and infants are free.

2. Onyx Ice Arena

will hold a holiday open-skate session daily during the winter break. The schedule varies, so check here to see when it fits into your schedule. All ages are welcome. Cost is $5 for skating, $3 for skate rental.

3. fLipspot Gymnastics and Cheer

, 233 Kay Industrial Dr. in Orion Township, will have an all-ages open gym from 2-3:30 p.m. Dec. 26-30 for $10 per person or $20 per family. Children 12 and older can go to open tumbling from 3:30-5 p.m. for $15 per person.

4. Rochester Hills Skating & Sports Arena

has a family skate from 6-9 p.m. Fridays, open skate from 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and noon-4 p.m. Sundays. Closed on Christmas and New Years Day. Admission costs $6 to skate, $2 for roller skates and $3 for inline skates.

5. Classic Lanes

has specials every day, including Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years Day. (click here for schedule and prices) to keep you and your children active and entertained. Family glow bowling is worth checking out.
