10 Things You Can Bring to Sunday's Appraisal Day in Rochester

10 appraisers will be on hand to tell you how much your treasures are worth.

Sunday is at the . Sponsored by the Rochester-Avon Historical Society, it's an afternoon event that invites antique enthusiasts and novices alike to bring in their treasures and find out how much they are worth.

Patch talked to Carol Tough, the Appraisal Day chairperson, and asked her to list 10 things to consider digging out of storage to bring downtown for an appraisal.

"It doesn't have to be something 100 years old or older. If you have something of interest that's been in your family and you want to learn more about it, bring it in," Tough said.

  1. Jewelry.
  2. China.
  3. Oil paintings.
  4. Dolls.
  5. Books.
  6. Toys.
  7. Military items.
  8. Coins.
  9. Pottery.
  10. Furniture (you don't have to bring the piece with you; you can take a picture of bigger items and write down any distinguishing markings).

Appraisal Day is from noon-4 p.m. Sunday. Ten appraisers will be available. Admission is free; the cost for a verbal appraisal is $5 per item; there is no charge for items appraised under $20.
