Just the Beginning

How's it going everybody? With this being my first ever post, I thought I would take a brief moment to give a little introduction about myself before we jump into the real exciting stuff.  My name is Talal Fram, I am a third year student at Oakland University, I am the youngest of 4 siblings, and I have had an aspiration to write about sports since I was about 9 years old.  But enough about me! Let's jump right into things shall we?  How I plan to do things is to discuss one team or event at a time, but you will all get your fair share of Red Wings, Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Wolverines, and Spartan news.  This is just the beginning of things to come.

To start off, I must say to anyone who doesn't know me: I am by far the biggest Red Wings fan you will ever meet or talk to, which is why I decided to start off with them today.  The Red Wings recently began their preseason play on Monday against the (dreaded) Pittsburgh Penguins with a CONVINCING 4-1 win against Sydney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and the whole bunch in the Steel City.  Goals scored by Datsyuk and defenseman prospect Adam Almquist led the Red Wings to a surprising win in which the roster was mostly composed of newly drafted players with no professional experience.  This inexperience, however, showed the very next night, when the Red Wings were defeated 2-0 by the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Chicago Blackhawks.  Chicago dominated, however, goalie prospect Jared Coreau stopped all 11 shots he faced while Jonas "The Monster" Gustavsson allowed only 2 goals on 23 shots faced; this is a promising sight for the goalie core of the team in the months ahead.  Next the team travels to face new division rivals(as a result of league realignment) in a Beantown showdown against Zdeno Chara and the Boston Bruins.  That game will be at 7 P.M. ET on Fox Sports Detroit.

That's all for tonight. Tune in on Friday for a Michigan Wolverine preview of the night game on Saturday against the University of Connecticut, and a preview of Michigan State's clash with hated rivals Notre Dame in South Bend.  Yes, I will be making predictions!
