Traumatic Brain Injuries Can Happen to Anyone

The month of March is set aside as Brain Injury Awareness Month.  As a member of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI), Crittenton Home Care works to advance awareness of the pivotal role that caregivers play in the recovery from traumatic brain injury.

Often, a traumatic brain injury (TBI) changes the course of an individual’s life.  From offering assistance with simple tasks to providing full-time long-term care, the families of those who have suffered a traumatic brain injury face many challenges.  Crittenton Home Care has developed a team of dedicated aides and nurses to work with individuals and their loved ones, providing expert and personalized compassionate care.

Proper care and rehabilitation are just part of the journey for those who have suffered a traumatic brain injury.  The families and caregivers of those who have suffered traumatic brain injuries have come to rely on the support from Crittenton Home Care as a welcomed respite and relief from constant worry.

“We offer medical and respite home care services to families,” said Andrea Walker, Community Relations Coordinator at Crittenton Home Care. “Caregivers are strong, brave individuals.  Our team is privileged to offer assistance to them and their loved one.  Whether it is for a few hours, or 24-hour nursing care, we are able to provide them with support”.

“As a key member of the Coalition Protecting Auto No-Fault (CPAN), BIAMI is actively engaged in the fight to protect the basic human rights afforded to catastrophically-injured auto accident victims by our current no-fault insurance system of reasonable and continuing care for as long as medically necessary,” said BIAMI President Mike Dabbs.

“Home-based attendant services are a vital component of this continuum of care, and are being threatened by the insurance industry’s relentless attempts to shift the cost of catastrophic care onto an already burdened Medicaid system, which does not cover attendant care ,” said BIAMI President Mike Dabbs.
