What's Up With Bar Louie? (And Other Updates Around Town)

Here's the latest on businesses that are opening, closing and moving.

Last Thursday we shared with you what is changing in downtown Rochester, including news about the new restaurant, , as well as the new location for .

Today we turn our attention to Rochester Hills.

What's new around town

Everyone has been  the empty Shield's Pizza on the corner of Rochester and Tienken roads take on new life as Bar Louie.

Specializing in oversized sandwiches and signature cocktails, other Bar Louie locales have the reputation of being the cool neighborhood hangout where friends and family meet.

Because the Shield's sign is still on the building, we were wondering if Bar Louie was for real?

Never fear, nightlifers. We hear the bar will open in early October.

Can't wait to see you, Louie!  

Opening:  is open for business and offering Middle Eastern desserts in their location at 2656 S. Rochester Road. Have you tried their baklava yet?

Moving: Our  showed a lot of local love for  Unfortunately they had to close their Walton Road location.

The good news is they'll be opening in a soon-to-be-announced new locale in the end of October — hopefully just in time to serve some pumpkin gellatto!

What's new at The Village

took the former locations of Baja Fresh and California Closet. With a liquor license obtained, the Grill plans on serving Asian beer, several signature cocktails and wine with their create-your-own stir-fry menu.

They are currently set to open in September. Get a sneak peak at their menu here

Opening:  will open in the corner location formerly occupied by Cosi. The estimated open date is by the end of the year.

Also, will open in the spot formerly occupied by Tying the Knot Pretzel. It features coffee, pastries and, of course, crepes.

Closing: English Gardens Patio, California Closets, Cosi and Baja Fresh have all closed their doors for the last time at their Village locations.
