This Isn't Your Ordinary Community Garage Sale

It's called 'Junk in the Trunk' and it's happening in downtown Rochester on Saturday.

What's better than a neighborhood garage sale on a Saturday morning?

A neighborhood garage sale where the "neighborhood" is your favorite downtown.

The first ever "," described as a rummage-sale-in-a-parking-lot, is happening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot on the corner of West Third and Walnut streets (next to ).

Sellers paid a fee for a parking spot (or two) and will be selling everything you'd normallly find at a garage sale.

According to event planner Stephanie Schwager of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority, about 50 sellers have registered.

"Junk in the Trunk was created to benefit both Rochester businesses and also residents who are long-time supporters of downtown," Schwager said.

It's free to browse, though shoppers should bring cash — and their own bags — for their purchases.
