Tavern on the Hills Bringing Classic American Bar Fare to Town

A new bar and grill is coming soon to Rochester Hills; city council will hear owners' request for a dance-entertainment permit tonight

A new restaurant coming to the southeast corner of Rochester Hills will offer classic bar food, a family-friendly atmosphere and musical entertainment — if city officials approve owners' request.

Tavern on the Hills is opening soon at 1711 E. Auburn Road, in the former Bourbon Jakes restaurant between John R and Dequindre. The Tavern owners also own Orion Sports Bar in Lake Orion and Sand Bar and Grille in Harrison Township.

They are seeking a new dance-entertainment permit for the business; Rochester Hills City Council will hear their request at a meeting tonight.

According to the permit application, the restaurant will be a "clean, fun family-friendly bar and grille ... a place where a lawyer, auto worker or a garbage man can come in and feel equally comfortable." With the dance-entertainment permit, the restaurant will feature acoustic acts and also DJs, according to the application.

Tonight's meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Hills City Hall; it is open to the public. Also on the agenda:
