Rochester Woman Offers Peaceful Birthing

Reducing fear allows the birthing body to work easily and comfortably, owner says.

After using HypnoBirthing childbirth education and experiencing "incredibly easy and enjoyable births" of her two daughters, Janice Rex-Weaver wanted to share her knowledge with others.

The Rochester resident became a certified teacher to educate families about the method.

Rex-Weaver recently shared information about the business through the Patch Small Business Spotlight.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

It's just as important to Peaceful Birthing to support partners/dads during the birth education experience as it is to support moms. Partners equally have fear and it's usually unknown territory for them too. Having trained partners only enhances the birth experience for the entire family.

Learning HypnoBirthing also does not mean you can't utilize epidurals or narcotic drugs during birth. However, the relaxation techniques learned and used are usually supportive enough to not need them.

When was the business founded?

September 2006. I am now located in downtown Rochester at 226 Walnut Blvd in the Cary Art Gallery building. www.YourPeacefulBirthing.com

How did your business come to be?

I used HypnoBirthing childbirth education for the births of my daughters and I had incredibly easy and enjoyable births. I was inspired after the birth of my 2nd daughter to become certified in teaching this method to expectant families.

Why did you choose the area you did?

I recognized that something was missing between knowing how to create the baby :-) and birthing the baby. Many families miss out on educating themselves about birth options and ways to relax and release fear. Reducing fear allows the birthing body to work easily and comfortably. This will help the birth experience to be a positive memory rather than possibly a negative one.
