Rochester Mills to Homebrewers: Show Us Your Beer

The downtown Rochester beer company is hosting a competition, and the winning beer will be distributed throughout Michigan.

Raise a (pint) glass to homebrewing.

Rochester Mills Beer Co. is inviting homebrewers from Rochester and across Michigan to gather for one of the largest single-day homebrewing events in the country at its production facility in Auburn Hills.

The Mills is also looking for the next best beer to be brewed on its production system and distributed in bars across the state: could it be your home brew?

“Rochester Mills has always been a big supporter of the homebrewing community,” said Rochester Mills founder Mike Plesz. “We share a love for the craft and, let’s face it, we basically started off as homebrewers ourselves.

"This past year we took our brewing to the next level by distributing our beers across the State, so it was only fitting that we kicked this event up a notch as well.”

The Mills announced this week details of both events.

2013 Mills Big Brew Day: On Saturday, April 27, brewers are invited to the year-old production facility to brew a batch of beer. Space is limited to the first 100 entries. Register here.

Michigan Homebrew Competition: Beer that is brewed during the Big Brew Day will be eligible for the homebrew competition Saturday, June 1. Entrants are invited back to sample competing beers and vote for their favorites. A public open house will also be held on this day.

The winning beer will be produced at The Mills and distributed in July to bars across the state.
