The name has changed, but the partnership between the anchor department store at the Village of Rochester Hills and Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit remains the same.
Carson's (formerly Parisian) began collecting gently used clothing in return for discount coupons starting Wednesday in Rochester Hills.
The popular "Goodwill Sale" continues through March 30; on Wednesday afternoon, donation boxes were already overflowing inside the Rochester Hills store.
In return for donations, customers receive a 25 percent off coupon for each item they give; on Wednesday, the kickoff day, customers received double the coupons.
So, just where do the donated items go from Rochester?
Each year, Goodwill hosts the event to raise money for programs that help unemployed people across Metro Detroit earn jobs.
Items collected during event will be sold at Goodwill’s flagship upscale retail store in Canton and the newest location in Dearborn to support Goodwill employment education, training and placement programs, according to a representative of Goodwill.
