Photo of the Day: From Downtown Rochester, Gifts for Sandy Hook Families

The personalized lockets are engraved with this phrase: 'I am an angel and a hero,'

A downtown Rochester jeweler has designed personalized lockets for the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in December.

Vince and Joe Lucido, owners of Lucido Fine Jewelry, created heart-shaped silver lockets engraved with the phrase "I am an angel and a hero" on one side and the victim's name on the other. Inside each locket is a photo of the victim.

The Lucidos created the jewelry after receiving a call from a customer with the idea for the lockets.

“When we heard of the request to make these lockets, we never gave it a second thought,” Vince Lucido said. “As the locket says, these children and adults were angels and heroes, and they were taken much too soon.

"We felt honored to design these necklaces and hope they will help the affected families by keeping the memories of their loved ones alive and close to their hearts.”

The lockets were created free of charge; they have been sent to the family, according to a representative for Lucido.
