Hibachi Grill Coming to Downtown Rochester

Here's a roundup of changes on Main Street and beyond.

There are a lot of changes being made in Rochester and Rochester Hills. If you need help keeping track, here you go:

What's new Downtown

lovers rejoice! The popular downtown eatery is opening a second restaurant in Rochester.

Hibachi House will be located at 335 Main St. and, as the name might indicate, will feature those big hibachi grills (in the style of Benihana in Troy, for instance). A liquor license is in the works; there is no opening date to share just yet.

Opening: If you've been lucky enough to be downtown when Bonjour Cupcakes has been passing out free samples, you'll be delighted to know the new cupcake destination is scheduled to have a soft opening this weekend.

Closing: The eclectic downtown favorite, Fourth Street Mercantile, has everything 20 percent to 70 percent off until they close at month's end.

Moving: Have you gone looking for gluten-free, vegan cupcakes and been met with a "For Lease" sign? Never fear, has simply moved to  at 120 E. Fourth St. In addition to cupcakes, Boho is now also offering gluten-free, vegan donuts and whoopie pies.

Come back next week to see what's new at The Village of Rochester Hills and elsewhere around town.

Since this magazine does, in theory, boost local businesses, wouldn't it be better to compare the new Hibachi Grill to the existing Fuji Steak House (http://fujijsh.com/) in Rochester Hills (on Livernois, near the Kroger) vs. a Benihana in Troy?

Hi Carol, I'll have to check out Fuji. Thanks for the tip! I used Benihana as an example because it's been around for nearly 50 years and has over 100 locations, making it an easily recognized example of the hibachi grill. Thanks for reading!
