5 Things to Bring You Downtown (Road Work? What Road Work?)

Just because Main Street is torn up doesn't mean it should be avoided. Here are some things to motivate you to Main.

 

If you're passionate about our downtown, now more than ever is the time to show it some love. 

It's Week 2 of the project they're calling the Main Street Makeover, and downtown businesses are making special efforts to bring you in. And don't forget: there's still plenty of parking and it's all free.

Here are some other reasons to get downtown now:

1. Art and coffee

Sure, the construction might not be pretty, but check out the walls at . The cafe is featuring a revolving art gallery. From now until May 7 the display includes colorful works from students of  and  elementary schools.

2. Sales! Sales!

If the art doesn't bring you down, how about a sale?  has a special construction discount going on April 16 to April 28. It's 30 percent off one in-store item. Perhaps you can put it to use on the new summer line of girls clothing from Paper Wings.

3. Family pizza night

Everyone needs to eat and  has a couple of weekday specials to get you in. Tuesday is Family Pizza Night with a large pizza, four side salads and four soft drinks for $16. Wednesday's special features a slop burger with fries and a small draft or soft drink for $6.

4. Farmers' Market treats

If you can't wait until the Rochester  opens in three weeks,  is ready to help you out. In addition to their amazing homemade cannoli, the store is also selling product from three Farmers' Market favorites: The Toffee Store, Will Cole Popcorn and Green Organics Farm.

5. Time for wine

Finally, is taking the edge off the construction project with an ongoing Happy Hour. It's every Tuesday through Friday and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. It features half-off all glasses of wine.
