Cupcake Station, billed as Michigan's first cupcake shop, will open in the former Dessert Oasis location on the corner of Second and Main streets in downtown Rochester.
Kristi Trevarrow, executive director of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority, confirmed the new business is coming to 205 S. Main Street.
"I think it's exciting news," said Trevarrow. "We've had a couple of cupcake shops downtown in the past that were not successful. Cupcake Station has an established product, and they'll be a great addition to downtown."
In the past two years, Bonjour Cupcakes and Boho Cupcakes opened and closed in downtown Rochester.
Cupcake Station, with locations in Birmingham, Ann Arbor, Plymouth and Ferndale, features 24 flavors of cupcakes each day. Cupcakes are $2.75 each; they also offer mini and jumbo cupcakes. Flavors include Boston Creme, Red Velvet, Coconut Blitz and the popular Bump-a-licious.
Last year, Cupcake Station was one of several business sponsors of the first downtown Rochester Cash Mob.
Dessert Oasis moved from the location at the end of last year; the coffee shop is now located down the street at 336 S. Main Street.
