Big, Bright Ball Proves It's Never Too Early To Get Holiday Spirit

The event raised money for Rochester's Big, Bright Light Show.

It was the hot, hot last day of July, but inside the on Sunday, the party was all about gearing up for the cold-weather months.

The Big, Bright Ball welcomed more than 300 people to dance and dine in support of the Big, Bright Light Show, an annual event that in more than 1.5 million multicolored holiday lights.

The show and the ball are the works of the Downtown Development Authority, which this year has been tasked with raising $100,000 to fund the attraction.

And speaking of the lights, a highlight of Sunday night's ball was a raffle drawing to determine who would flip the switch on the show's opening night.

The winning family: The Mickleys of Rochester Hills. Mom Jenifer, dad Mike and children Jack and Samantha will turn the lights on Nov. 28.
