Bar Louie Taking Shape at Tienken and Rochester Roads

Workers have knocked out the front of the former Shield's Pizza to make room for a 2,000-square-foot patio.

Work has begun on transforming the former Shield's Pizza at Tienken and Rochester roads into a .

The Rochester Hills location will be the eighth Bar Louie in Michigan. It is expected to be open by the end of the year.

The restaurant's planned renovations include the addition of a 2,000-square-foot patio that will feature fire pits in the middle of tables, said Lee Klein, a representative of the new Bar Louie who spoke at a recent Rochester Hills City Council meeting.

Councilmembers approved Bar Louie's request for a liquor license last month.

Klein described Bar Louie as an "upscale, high-end family restaurant that also caters to sports fans."

He said the restaurant hopes to start training new personnel in mid-October.
