Around Town Grab Bag: From New Pizza to Wine-In-A-Box, Here's What I Know

Dan Good Pizza is, well, good!

I've been out and about, and here's what I found out:

You Don't Have to Grill to Enjoy BBQ

may be gone, but Dan Good Pizza has opened in its place. We tried out their Sweet BBQ Chicken pizza the other night. It has barbecue sauce, roasted chicken, bacon, red onion and cheddar cheese — and it's delish! The large pizza is $19.99.

Dan Good Pizza offers traditional, deep dish and gluten-free crust. And if you're cruising down Rochester Road with a rumble in your tummy, individual slices are $1. Their number is 248-656-9998.

Just a Mom Minute

If your kids are obsessed with Angry Birds — and mine are — the plush birds (and pig) are now available at Toys R Us. The eight-inch plush with sound is $12.99. Start saving your allowance!

Just a Mom Minute Part II

Ah, wine and summer — two of my favorite things. Now is making it easier for you to enjoy both with their wine cubes.

Sometimes the joy of wine doesn't lend itself to summer activities — on the boat, on the deck or tailgating at DTE Energy Center (a.k.a. Pine Knob). Target's wine cube is easy to stack, pack and carry. Even better, the unique packaging prevents that nasty old oxygen from touching the wine, keeping it just-opened-fresh for four weeks.

And since we just celebrated Earth Day, I'll also mention that the packaging is eco-friendly.

The wine cube comes in three sizes: 3-liter (equivalent to four bottles of wine), 1.5 liter (equivalent to two bottles of wine) and a four-pack (each box holds the same as a big glass of wine). The prices are $17.99, $11.99 and $9.99.

There are a total of eight different wines, including red and white sangria. And don't turn up your nose just because the wine comes in a box: these wines are award-winning.

Pull Up a Chair — Or Eight

tucked in the corner of the / plaza, recently added a special eight-seater table. The large, square table seats two on each of its four sides, making conversation flow smoothly.

It's handy for breakfast meetings, lunch gatherings and the group of bus-stop moms who get together monthly for coffee and chit-chat.
