Guide to Outdoor Music Around Rochester

From Weird Al to Beatlemania, here's who to see and what to bring for 24 concert events around town.

Do you like jazz? Rock? Country? Classical?

There's likely a concert for you this summer at one of many outdoor music venues around Rochester and Oakland Township. Here's a look at what's coming up and a little about each venue.

At Rochester Municipal Park

is in its 31st season and takes place in the Kiwanis pavilion in the park. The concert series is sponsored by the Rochester Kiwanis and is free. Guests are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs; pizza, popcorn, ice cream and beverages are for sale.

At The Village of Rochester Hills

The village's replaces its summer music series. Musical performances will be near the gazebo in the courtyard at the center of the outdoor shopping center.

At Stony Creek Metropark

Concerts are held at 7:30 p.m. at Eastwood Beach near Rochester and Washington Township. Bring blankets or a chair; picnic baskets are allowed (but no glass containers). Food is available in the park's concession area. Concerts are free but a vehicle entry permit is required ($5 daily or $25 annual; $15 for 62 and older).

At Meadow Brook Hall

The destination will host Jazz in the Garden with hors d' oeuvres (cash bar) and a tour of the main floor of the hall. Cost is $30.

At Meadow Brook Music Festival

A variety of concerts are planned for the concert pavilion on the Oakland University campus; ticket prices vary. There are general admission lawn seats available (bring your own blanket or low chairs). Visit www.PalaceNet.com for ticket information.

At Cranberry Lake Park

The Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings Woodwind Quintet will be performing at as part of Oakland Township's concert series. The rain-out location for the concert is .

  • Saturday, July 30: 6 Finger Lefty, 6-8 p.m. at The Village of Rochester Hills.
