'How I Became a Pirate' Actor to Visit Rochester Hills Library Friday

Eric Eilerson will visit with children and read Melinda Long's popular children's book at 4 p.m. Friday.

Eric Eilerson, who plays Jacob Jeremy in the “How I Became A Pirate,” the musical, will make his way home to Rochester Hills Public Library to visit with children and read Melinda Long’s popular children’s book on which the play is based.

The reading takes place at 4 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Rochester Hills Public Library, 500 Olde Town Road, Rochester.

The visit is in advance of the April 25-27 performance of the musical at City Theatre

Eilerson’s recent work includes appearances in Hamlet as part of the Michigan Shakespeare Festival and as the boy in Ernie, a play by Mitch Albom.

Children will join the adventures of Jacob Jeremy as he jumps on board to join Captain Braid Beard and his pirate crew.

Critics say songs like "A Good One to Boot," "Green Teeth," "I'm Really Just a Sensitive Guy," "You've Got To Talk Like A Pirate," "Pirates Don't Aaargh!," and many others will have children leaving the theatre secretly wishing for Braid Beard and the gang to one day pay them a visit.

“How I Became A Pirate” lands at the City Theatre from Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27.
