ROCHESTER COLLEGES HOSTS THEATRE FEST FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Rochester College will host Theatre Fest 2011 for southeastern Michigan high school students on Saturday, Nov. 12. The event will feature workshops with theatre professionals, faculty and Rochester College students on various topics including acting, musical theatre and technical theatre.

“Theatre Fest gives us a great opportunity to work with local high school students who are interested in theatre,” said Julayne Hughes, from Rochester College’s department of music, theatre and visual art. “The students love it because they can learn new things about theatre.”

The Theatre Fest event also helps create connections with other local theatre departments. “Establishing that kind of relationship is important not only for Rochester College but also for the local high schools,” said Hughes. “Many theatre departments are working on shoestring budgets, so the more we can work cooperatively, the better off we'll all be.”
