Rachel’s Challenge Returns to RCS

For the fourth year, Rochester PTA Council and three Middle School PTSAs will bring the Rachel’s Challenge program to several middle schools and ACE High School.

A community event is also scheduled for Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 pm in the Rochester High School auditorium.  Community members, as well as high school students, are encouraged to attend this evening event. Parental discretion is recommended for middle school students, and this evening presentation is not recommended for elementary students.

Rachel’s Challenge is a powerful program that focuses on true stories from people who were impacted by Rachel Scott, the first person killed in the Columbine tragedy. The program’s focus is on how Rachel lived, not on how she died.  Rachel’s Challenge encourages students to follow her example and live their lives with purpose, and initiate and further positive cultural change by starting “chain reactions of kindness and compassion” in their schools, homes and community.

Each year, students and staff find ways to incorporate the mission and ideals of this valuable program into their day-to-day routines and communications.

“It has been great to see our students take leadership roles in spreading kindness throughout Reuther and our community,” stated Amy Hoekstra, Chainlinks Club Advisor, Reuther Middle School. “The students have developed a heart for Rachel’s Challenge, and it has made an impact in our school.”
