Downtown Seeking Skateboard Artists for Deck Art 2012

It's the second year for the unique art-and-board event.

Last year's Deck Art event was such a success, its creators have decided to do it again this year — and make it bigger.

Deck Art is a unique art-meets-skateboard show created by Christine Laikind, owner of and Linda Gallaher, who owns South Street Skateshop and South Street Skate Park with her husband, Von.

The skateboard art competition is open to middle and high school students, college students and adults. Participants are invited to use their imaginations to turn a plain wooden skateboard into a work of art. There will be prizes (participants will be judged based on age categories) and an artists' reception. In the end, artists will be able to keep their boards.
