Audition Now for Part in Rochester Christmas Play

Avon Players is looking for singers and character actors for a production this December.

As they get ready for the final weekend of the play that opened their 2012-13 season, Avon Players is looking for local talent for a holiday production.

Bye Bye Birdie closes this weekend with performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

In the meantime, the Rochester theater is getting ready for auditions for Forever Christmas, which will run Nov. 30-Dec. 15.

"Adult singers of all voice types should have a strong ability to harmonize and sight-reading ability is a plus," according to an announcement about the auditions. "Actors should be able to handle sketch-type comedy and play multiple characters."

Auditions will be held at the theater at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 and 7 p.m. Oct. 1. Registration begins 30 minutes prior to the start of auditions.

Singers will be asked to sing selections from the show as well as demonstrate harmony ability. Actors will be asked to read scenes from the show. Singers do not necessarily need to do the acting audition and actors do not necessarily do the singing audition unless you choose to audition for both. Avon Players is not seeking children at this time.
