Newman said now is a great time to make this transition. “I’ve been with the Sheriff’s Office for over 37 years. I loved it, but now I’m looking forward to the challenge of serving as public services director,” he said.

Newman, 60, began his career in law enforcement in 1975 with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. He was promoted to sergeant in 1990, lieutenant in 1999, and captain in 2003. He has worked in the Corrections, Court Services, Patrol Services, and Investigative and Forensic Services divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. He graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, in 2005.
