Northern Lights May be Visible Over Southeast Michigan

Southeast Michigan may be in for a rare treat Wednesday night into Thursday morning as the northern lights make their first appearance for 2014.

A strong solar flare facing the Earth earlier this week may bring us a rare display of aurora borealis, or northern lights, overnight Wednesday into Thursday, according to reports.

The light show may be visible in southeast Michigan, meteorologist Mark Paquette said on the Accuweather website. They'll be most visible around midnight.

Viewing conditions should be good, with partly cloudy skies.
