Big, Bright Light Show Kickstarter Campaign in Final Stretch

Rochester DDA must raise $27,000 by Nov. 1.

A Kickstarter campaign to fund the full implementation of this year's Big, Bright Light Show has raised $7,745 in pledges toward its $27,000 goal from 137 backers as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The "Miracle on Fourth Street" Kickstarter campaign by the Rochester Downtown Development Authority must raise at least $27,000 in pledges by Nov. 1 to receive funding through the crowd-sourced funding platform.

Citing reduced funding this year, the DDA announced it will not have the resources to light many of the side streets along Main Street as part of its 1.5-million-light show that it says draws more than one million visitors to downtown each year. If the goal is reached by Nov. 1, the lights will be installed in time for the Light The Town Ceremony at Lagniappe.
