Rochester Junior Woman’s Club Looking for Donation Recipients

The Rochester Junior Woman’s Club (RJWC) is looking for non-profit organizations that are in need of assistance and can benefit from their fundraising.

 

Each spring the clubs Donations Committee reviews requests submitted by local organizations requesting assistance. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the club selects their annual recipients for their major fundraisers as well as selecting recipients for miscellaneous donations.

RJWC has been serving the community since 1956. It is a service organization involved in promoting education, preserving natural resources, working on behalf of the elderly, children and families in need and supporting and participating in the arts. Since their inception, the Rochester Junior Woman’s Club has donated more than 1 million hours of community service and raised more than $820,000 to support the local community.

The club holds two or three major fundraisers a year to raise funds for the chosen recipients. This year the club hosted the “Lobster Boil” which was held the last Saturday in September as well as two other events.  “An Evening at the Great Estate” which was held on January 25, 2014 at Meadow Brook Hall. The club is currently planning their annual “Spring Highlights” Luncheon and Shopping Boutique. This event takes place on Saturday March 29, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Park Hotel, 600 East University Drive in Rochester, Michigan.

 

Proceeds from the past fundraising efforts have been given to South Oakland Shelter, Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm, Meadow Brook Hall Garden Club, OPC, Paint Creek Center for the Arts, Rochester Neighborhood House, Habitat for Humanity, The Rochester Community House, Avon Players Theatre, Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve, Band of Angels, Meadow Brook Center for Learning Differences, Meadow Brook Hall, The Heritage Festival and Paint a Miracle, Rochester Area Neighborhood House, Rainbow Connection, Benefit Blessings in a Backpack, Rochester PTA Council’s Rachel’s Challenge Program, Stoney Creek Schoolhouse Interpretation at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm, Avon Players, Friends of Dinosaur Hill and Rochester Symphony Orchestra (RSO), Crittenton Foundation, Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library and Leader Dogs for the Blind and many other worthy organization.

 

Currently, the club is raising funds that will support Meadow Brook Hall and Rochester Area Neighborhood House.
