Rochester Garden Club and Van Hoosen Farm Enjoy a Perfect Partnership

For over thirty years, The Rochester Garden Club, a branch of the Woman’s National Farm and Garden, has been supporting the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm with volunteer labor, creative ideas and monetary awards.  Both organizations share the desire to improve the quality of life in the greater Rochester area, and have worked closely together to create a shared vision of a livable and sustainable community.  “This is a partnership that has always worked, and we are so appreciative of all their support”, said Patrick McKay, the Museum Supervisor.

Through the years, the Rochester Garden Club has been instrumental in creating and maintaining the award winning Children’s’ Garden,  assists in the yearly Museum Garden Walk each June, helps out at the popular Pumpkin Festival in the fall, and supports the farm with monetary donations.  This year, the farm will use donated funds from The Rochester Garden Club to purchase modern audio-visual equipment that will be installed in the Calf Barn during Phase II work this fall.   This equipment will support the wide range of cultural, educational, and recreational programs the Museum hosts each year to over 50,000 guests annually.

“We are an active group dedicated to improving our community through educational outreach, and activities in support of gardening, environmental stewardship, and agriculture. Supporting the Rochester Hills Museum and Van Hoosen Farm is a perfect fit for our club”, said Jane Giblin, President of the Rochester Garden Club.  Funds are donated from profits generated at the annual Greens Market, a holiday themed sale of handmade gift items, arrangements and fresh greens held in early December.
