The inspiration and muse for this year’s Spring Luncheon was the iconic actress and a passionate humanitarian, Audrey Hepburn. “In Hollywood, she was known for her beauty, sense of style and wonderful movies, but off-screen, she became loved for her generosity and philanthropic efforts. Audrey used her celebrity status to promote important causes, in hopes of creating change and bettering the lives of others, especially children, being very active with UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund. Audrey Hepburn left a legacy that continues to inspire others to do “good” in the world and to fight for others’ basic human rights. We would like to thank all of our guests for sharing their “inner beauty” and for their generosity that has allowed the Rochester Junior Woman’s Club to continue to make a positive difference in our community,” said Alicia Chenhalls, RJWC member and event co-chair.

The “Spring Highlights” event was chaired by Rochester Juniors club members Alicia Chenhalls and Kim Hynan with co-chairs Courtney McGinlay and Christina Pipkin along with the event committee; Club President - Kathy Lewis, Ticket Sales - Linda DeMarco, Check In - Juliann DiTommaso and Michelle Boerman, Chinese Raffle - Kathy Warriner and Lee DeMontigny,

Fashion Show – Kathy Lewis and Deb Mohre, Vendors – Marianne Koller and Jessica Cossette,

Decorations – Amy Griffin and Jennifer Hyvari, Invitations - Heather Banules, and Publicity, Invitations and Programs – Lynn Marie Oates.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Meadow Brook Hall and Rochester Area Neighborhood House. The funds from the event will help to support specific projects for the recipients.

Meadow Brook Hall will be using the funding for the Historical Interpretation of Danny Dodge’s Cabin and Workshop. In January 2013, Danny’s Cabin, the historic log cabin and workshop built for Danny Dodge, son of John and Matilda Dodge, was moved from its original site on the Meadow Brook farm property to a new site near Meadow Brook Hall’s Knole Cottage, the playhouse of Danny’s sister, Frances Dodge.  The objective of the project is to structurally restore the building back to its original design and purpose, to interpret its significance as an important historical asset on the Meadow Brook estate and to utilize the Cabin as a site to host educational and community programs including tours, youth programming and special events.

Funding received through the fundraising event will allow Neighborhood House to assist local families in their efforts to move toward self-sufficiency. RANH provides financial assistance in the areas of shelter, utilities and transportation, food and clothing assistance and other basic needs to those clients who cannot meet these obligations without other means.
