Holy Family Regional School Soars at Scholastic Olympics

Eighth graders from Holy Family Regional School competed in the Annual Scholastic Olympics held at Birmingham Brother Rice and Marian High Schools earlier this week.  Over 200 children competed in the event from 14 different area Catholic Middle Schools.  There were over 30 different subject categories between the two competitions.

“Not only is this a very fun event that Marian and Brother Rice host each year, but it is a very nice opportunity for our students to perform in a very competitive and high-pressure environment.  In almost all categories, students have a limited timeframe to complete the test or activity.  Children really have a chance to be rewarded for the many years of academic rigor and passion they dedicate to their education and talents,” said Mrs. Teresa Kober, 8th grade English and Literature teacher.

School spirit filled the Marian and Brother Rice auditoriums at the award ceremonies.  Exhilarated family members, teachers and classmates cheered as each well-deserved award was announced and presented.

Holy Family is very proud of the 23 awards earned this year; however, the teachers, faculty and staff are most proud of the amazing young adults the entire 8th grade class has become.  They truly embody a spirit of kindness and compassion for one another – and that is the best award a school community could ask for.
