DECK ART 2014

ROCHESTER, Mich.-Feb. 01, 2014 Rochester’s Fourth Annual Skateboard Art Competition & Exhibition:

Deck Art 2014. South Street Skateshop is calling all artists: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, College, Adult and Corporate to participate!!  Deck Art 2014 is a skateboard art competition and exhibition. Artists are asked to provide their unique work on a blank skateboard deck.  This year, entries will be judged by the public; those entries with the highest number of votes, within each category, will be awarded prizes.

Due to its ever growing popularity, organizers have expanded this year’s event to include as many as 50 local merchants, transforming Deck Art 2014 into a downtown Rochester crawl.  Last year’s Deck Art 2013 drew over 300 artists from all over South Eastern Michigan; Deck Art 2014 is expected to draw even more.  Completed artwork will be artfully displayed throughout participating restaurants and businesses for onlookers to enjoy as they stroll in and out of stores admiring the uniquely designed pieces of artwork.  Adding to the festivities, food, and side street entertainment, will return this year!!

The Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host, Deck Art 2014’s Thursday Night Kickoff from 5-9:00pm.  This evening, will include a sneak peek at Deck Art 2014 entries as well as family and kids’ activities, food, and side street entertainment. Deck Art 2014 continues on Friday May 16, 2014 from 5-9pm.  Pick up your maps at any participating restaurant or business!

Registration forms are available now at South Street Skateshop 410 Main Street in downtown Rochester, or forms may be printed from the website: southstreetskateshop.com.  Decks will be distributed beginning March 6, 2014.  Registration Fee of $20.00 (plus tax) includes 1 blank skateboard deck; registration deadline is Friday May 2, 2014.  Participants are encouraged to register well before the deadline date so that they can receive their deck well in advance and begin creating! 

South Street Skateshop has provided skateboarding and skateboard products to Michigan skateboarders since 2005.  Our service, collection, and expertise are surpassed by none.
