7 Tips for Better Nutrition

  • Eat small meals throughout the day versus large meals to help control your blood sugars
  • Make half your plate fruits and vegetables and no more than ¼ grains at each meal
  • Choose healthier fats like omega-3 and omega-6’s that are in foods such as fish, nuts and seeds, olive and canola oil
  • Choose low-fat dairy products
  • Eat at home more by cooking your own food to limit salt intake
  • Replace high-sugar foods like candies and cookies with fruits, while limiting fruit juice intake to 4oz a day
  • Read nutrition labels to find out the calories, carbohydrates and fats in your diet
